Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, and protect your information

Last updated: October 11, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Far Shore Media, LLC (“Far Shore Media,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit elpinerofilm.com (the “Site”), the website for our short film El Pinero.

By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Site.

1. Information We Collect

Information you give us directly

  • Email address, if you have donated to El Pinero or RSVPed to one of our events. We add donors and everyone who RSVPs to our events to our email list so we can keep them updated on the project; there is no public sign-up. Our mailing list is managed by our email provider, Kit.
  • Name, email address, and message content, if you contact us directly — for example, by emailing elpinerofilm@gmail.com, submitting a casting inquiry, or reaching out about a sponsorship or partnership.
  • Audition or casting materials (such as a self-tape, headshot, résumé, or written responses), if you submit them for consideration for a role in the film.

We do not collect payment card information ourselves. If you make a donation through the “Donate” link on this Site, that transaction is handled entirely by PayPal and by our fiscal sponsor, From the Heart Productions — see Section 4 below.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, the Site’s hosting provider automatically logs some technical information when you visit — such as your IP address, browser type, device type, and the pages you view. This Site is hosted on GitHub Pages, and this basic log information is collected by GitHub as part of operating and securing the Site. Our domain name is managed through Cloudflare’s DNS service, but visits to the Site are not routed through Cloudflare’s network.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the Site is used. When you load a page, a small script from Cloudflare records information about that visit, such as the page viewed, the referring website, your general location (country), your browser and device type, and page load performance. According to Cloudflare, Web Analytics does not use cookies or local storage to collect these metrics, and does not “fingerprint” individual visitors using their IP address, browser details, or other data. We see only aggregated statistics (for example, how many visits a page received), not information about individual visitors. You can read more in Cloudflare’s description of Web Analytics.

We use this information only in aggregate, to understand how the Site is used and to keep it running securely; we do not use it to individually identify visitors.

Information from embedded third-party services

Some pages on this Site embed content or forms from other companies, each of which may collect information according to its own privacy policy, independently of us:

  • YouTube / Google, for embedded video content
  • PayPal, for donation processing

We encourage you to review those companies’ own privacy policies if you have questions about how they handle your information.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information described above to:

  • Send project updates about El Pinero to people on our email list (donors and everyone who has RSVPed to our events)
  • Respond to inquiries, casting submissions, and sponsorship or partnership requests
  • Evaluate and follow up on audition materials
  • Understand and improve how people use the Site
  • Comply with applicable law

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

3. Cookies and Tracking

This Site does not use advertising trackers, and it does not set its own cookies. As described in Section 1, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies. The Site may store a small preference in your browser’s local storage, for example to remember that you closed an announcement pop-up so it isn’t shown to you again right away; this stays on your device and is not sent to us.

However, some of the embedded third-party services described in Section 1 — particularly YouTube video embeds — may set cookies or use similar technologies in your browser as part of their own operation, governed by their own policies.

Do Not Track: This Site does not currently respond differently to “Do Not Track” browser signals, and its behavior is the same whether or not such a signal is present. Third-party services embedded on the Site may independently honor Do Not Track signals under their own policies.

4. Donations, Events, and Our Fiscal Sponsor

El Pinero is a fiscally sponsored project of From the Heart Productions, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. When you donate through the PayPal link on this Site, your donation and any information you provide during that transaction (such as your name, email, and payment details) are collected and processed by PayPal and by From the Heart Productions, not by Far Shore Media, LLC directly. That information is handled under PayPal’s and From the Heart Productions’ own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.

When you donate, we may receive your name and email address (and, if you qualify for a donor-tier item such as a sticker set or care package, your mailing address) from PayPal or From the Heart Productions, or directly from you if you share it with us. We use this information to thank you, to fulfill any donor-tier item, and to send you occasional updates about El Pinero. All donors are added to our email list, and you can unsubscribe at any time, including from the very first email (see Section 6). We use your mailing address only to ship your item.

When you RSVP or register for an El Pinero event through a platform such as Eventbrite, that platform collects your registration information under its own privacy policy and shares your name and email address with us as the event organizer. We use this information to manage the event, to follow up with you about it, and to send you occasional updates about El Pinero. Everyone who RSVPs is added to our email list, whether or not they end up attending, and you can unsubscribe at any time, including from the very first email (see Section 6).

5. How We Share Information

We don’t sell personal information. We share it only:

  • With service providers who help us operate the Site and the project (Kit, PayPal, From the Heart Productions, event registration platforms such as Eventbrite, GitHub Pages, and Cloudflare for domain name services and Web Analytics), each acting under its own policies
  • If required to by law, subpoena, or other legal process
  • To protect the rights, safety, or property of Far Shore Media, LLC, our collaborators, or others

6. Your Choices

  • Email list: every email from us includes an unsubscribe link, or you can email us at elpinerofilm@gmail.com to be removed. If you donate or RSVP to an event and would prefer not to be added to the list at all, just let us know.
  • General requests: you can email elpinerofilm@gmail.com at any time to ask what information we hold about you, to correct it, or to request that we delete it. We’ll do our best to accommodate reasonable requests, even where a particular privacy law’s formal rights may not technically apply to a project our size.
  • California residents: consistent with the California Online Privacy Protection Act, you may contact us at the email above with any questions about our privacy practices.

7. Children’s Privacy

This Site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we’ll delete it.

8. Data Retention & Security

We keep information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. We take reasonable measures to protect information in our control, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we can’t guarantee absolute security.

9. International Visitors

This Site and its operator are based in the United States, and information you provide may be processed and stored in the United States. If you’re visiting from outside the U.S., you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in a country with different data protection laws than your own.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
