El Pinero follows Cole, a young American searching for the grave of a grandfather who left home for Cuba’s Isla de la Juventud decades ago. What starts as a physical journey becomes an exploration of identity, memory, and inheritance, grounded in a little known chapter of American-Cuban history: the migration of thousands of Americans to the island in the early twentieth century.
